Creative Color Wheels

To wrap up our unit on color, students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade were asked to create their own unique color wheel. Each student was encouraged to create a color wheel based on a theme or topic of their choice. I am amazed at what our creative kids here at Wilson came up with! Please enjoy the selection of Creative Color Wheels below :)

Secondary Still Life

This spring students at Wilson Elementary School have
 been busy studying the wonderful world of color!
After wrapping up our lesson on primary colors
 (featuring the abstract artist Mondrian), we began exploring secondary colors.
Students took on the task of creating a still life work of art made up of
the secondary colors orange, green, and purple
using only
 red, blue, and yellow paints.
 Students had to work together in small groups and practice mixing different
combinations of red, yellow, and blue tempera paint in order to create their masterpiece.

 Each grade level looked at a different artists specific style of still life paintings.
Still life artists include: Vincent Van Gogh, Gerard van Spaendonck,
 Franz Bischoff, Eugene Henri Cauchois, and Jan Frans van Dael.
Below are a few featured works from a variety of grade levels.
Enjoy!
