Artwork inspired by Vincent Van Gogh

For the entire month of February, Wilson's 4th and 5th grade students have been exploring the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh. In art we used the fun and free artwork encyclopedia: http://www.wikipaintings.org/
to view Van Gogh's famous painting "The Starry Night"
As a class we learned about Van Gogh's use of real and implied texture, as well as his use of foreground, middleground, and background. Afterwards, we created our our works of art inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. I would love to share a few of 4th and 5th grade projects.

In addition, The Philadelphia Art museum is currently showing a special Vincent Van Gogh Exhibit.
The exhibit will be up from Feb- May 2012. If you are interested in visiting the exhibit and learning more about Van Gogh's artwork visit: http://www.philamuseum.org/exhibitions/743.html

Healthy Breakfast T-shirt Contest

Our creative Wilson students have been invited to enter the national school breakfast t-shirt contest. In art we spent a week focusing on fashion design and students were asked to  create their own original school breakfast t-shirt design highlighting the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. One national winner will have their design recreated as a t-shirt through The School Nutrition Association products and two runners-up will receive a prize pack. Since we had to mail all of our t-shirt art and will not get to keep it, i wanted to share some of our entries via our art website. Stay tuned for more information on the winning t-shirt. Winners will be chosen and their school
